Researchers from Which? rounded up the cheapest Easter options on offer at the UK's major grocers this year.

With the cost of living on the rise, it's more important than ever to make sure you're getting the most for your money.

Many families will opt for lamb for their Easter meal, but the analysis also includes chicken, pork and a veggie option.

No roast dinner is complete without all the trimmings, so Which? has also compared the price of classic veg side dishes.

Reena Sewraz, money expert at Which?, said: "If you are looking to put on an Easter spread but are worried about the cost, our analysis shows that it's worth shopping around.

"You might also want to reconsider what you plan to cook as there might be a cheaper option that'll be just as good."

This is where you can get the cheapest Easter roast dinner in 2022.

According to the research, Asda is selling the cheapest half leg of lamb - between 950g and 1.27kg - at £10.99 per kg.

That's followed by Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco at £11.62, £12 and £13.50 per kg respectively.

However, Tesco Clubcard members can now get it for £6.75 per kg.

Ocado was the most expensive, coming in at £14.50 per kg.

If you fancy chicken instead, Aldi is your cheapest option, charging £1.87 per kg and a £3.55 fixed price for a bird weighing between 1.6kg and 1.9kg.

Morrisons is the second cheapest, at £2.35 per kg, followed by Sainsbury's at £2.37 per kg.

Which? also did the sums for households who prefer pork.

Sainsbury's, Lidl and Aldi share the top spot as they both charge the least for a pork shoulder joint, at £2.89 per kg.

Meanwhile, Tesco and Asda have a £3.50 per kg price tag, followed by Morrisons at £3.57.

The prices of meat are per kilogram, so the total cost will depend on which weight you buy.

Vegetarians have been catered for, too, as Which? compared the price of Linda McCartney's frozen vegetarian chicken roast.

This ruled out Aldi, Asda and Lidl, which don't stock that item.

But the cheapest option was Waitrose, where you'd pay £3 for the veggie dinner.

It was £3.60 at Morrisons and Ocado, and £3.85 at Sainsbury's and Tesco.

Which? said its analysis is based on price averages between March 21 and April 3.

So bear in mind that prices may have changed and products could be out of stock.

It also includes discounts but not multi-buy deals.

You can get a sack of King Edward potatoes from Lidl for £1.19 or pay £1.33 at Sainsbury's and £1.50 at Tesco and Morrisons.

Broccoli was cheapest at Morrisons, where it costs 44p, followed by 47p at Aldi and 49p at Tesco and Ocado.

The research also looked at prices for less common sides including asparagus and leeks.

Which? also worked out the cheapest supermarket for a basket of essentials - including milk, eggs and bread - over the kids' school holidays.

It also included items to make healthy lunch and dinners, such as apples, bananas, peanut butter and hummus, as well as spagetti, onions and beef mines.

The research found that Aldi was cheapest over all, where the basket of 21 items in the two weeks to April 4 came in at £24.49.

At Lidl it was £1 more expensive at £25.55.

Asda was the cheapest of the Big Four supermarkets, with the items costing £28.64, followed by Tesco at £29.05 and Sainsbury's at £31.13.
